Flash Floods , labourer missing while 8 persons rescued in Rajouri.

Rajouri July 28:–Following heavy downpour on the mountains, especially in Thanamandi, Darhal, Kotranka, and Rajouri tehsils, Sukhto and Agli Tawi rivers on both sides of the Rajouri town have been in spate which has put the district administration and the concerned departments and Disaster Management Committees on high alert.
As per the latest reports, a labourer from Chhattisgarh and working with a brick kiln has been washed away at Bathooni (in Rajouri tehsil) while his co-worker was rescued by the joint team of police and SDRF headed by Sameer Jillani, SHO with the help of locals.
The police have neither traced the missing person nor have retrieved his body till the filing of this report. The information about the missing person was provided by the rescued person.
“Both had gone to the island and were trapped in the flash floods in the Agli Tawi River. The police has also rescued three persons trapped in the flash floods near the Saialni Bridge in the heart of Rajouri town.
Due to land sliding followed by incessant rains the Rajouri-Darhal road remained closed for some time and was later restored for traffic.
Meanwhile, on getting information that four persons have been trapped in the flash flood near Dhangri under the jurisdiction of Rajouri police station, a rescue team of the Army (soldiers of the Town Regiment from Rajouri) rushed to the area and after a three-hour-long operation rescued them safely.
Reports further said due to heavy downpour 9 Kachha (Mud) houses have suffered damage in different tehsils of the district.
“In view of the adverse weather forecast and the increase in the water level in Agli Tawi River amid incessant rains, the administration has sounded a high alert and has identified some families in the Bela Colony to be shifted to safer places,” said Sachin Dev Singh, Additional DC.
Sources said a police team headed by SHO has shifted these families to Covid Care Center (presently not in use).
A police team headed by SHO, Nowshera has also shifted the families living in the slum on the bank of Munawar Tawi in Nowshera town.
