RAJOURI DEC 25:-A tragic fire incident devastated the residence of Saddam Hussein, 30, son of Abdul Hamid, a Below Poverty Line (BPL) ration cardholder, in Nagrota village, Rajouri district. The inferno destroyed property worth several lakhs, leaving the family homeless and in distress.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire brigade took over an hour to travel a mere 3 km, citing a severe traffic jam near the Jhawarnager area as the cause of the delay. The traffic bottleneck was allegedly due to poor management, a recurring issue in the region.
Advocate Abrar Choudhary condemned the inefficiency of the traffic department, stating, “Such delays in emergency services are inexcusable. The loss could have been mitigated if the traffic had been managed properly.”
The incident has sparked widespread anger among local residents, who criticized the authorities for their lack of preparedness and demanded accountability. “This is not the first time we’ve faced such issues. We need immediate reforms in traffic management and emergency response systems,” a resident remarked.
This tragic event underscores the critical need for better coordination between traffic and emergency services to prevent similar mishaps in the future. Residents have called for urgent action to address systemic inefficiencies and ensure timely responses in life-threatening situations.
