NEW DELHI APRIL 29:-An FIR has been registered against Mahua Moitra over allegations of defaming West Bengal poll observer and Uttar Pradesh IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma through the circulation of an alleged AI-generated video.
According to reports, the complaint claims that the viral clip shared on social media was “fake” and AI-generated, allegedly aimed at misleading the public and damaging the reputation of the senior police officer, who was deployed as a police observer during the ongoing West Bengal Assembly elections.
As per Moneycontrol, the FIR was lodged at the Mandir Marg Police Station in Central Delhi. The complaint accuses the Trinamool Congress MP of attempting to tarnish the image of IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma by circulating the controversial video online.
The controversy erupted after videos allegedly showing Ajay Pal Sharma dancing with women surfaced online and were shared by Mahua Moitra on social media. The authenticity of the clips has become a subject of political and legal dispute.
The matter has triggered a fresh political row amid the high-voltage West Bengal elections, with opposition parties and political leaders trading allegations over the use of social media and AI-generated content in election campaigns. Authorities have not yet announced further legal action in the case.
