FIR Lodged Against Three PSV Drivers for Violating Fitness Norms in Surankote

POONCH APRIL 30:-Traffic Police Rural Jammu has registered an FIR against three drivers of Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) for operating vehicles without mandatory fitness certificates, posing a serious threat to passengers and pedestrians. The action was taken during routine checking at TCP Surankote. 

According to officials, the drivers were found plying their vehicles despite being repeatedly challaned and warned earlier for similar violations. Acting on the violations, police seized all three vehicles on the spot and registered FIR No. 111/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash and negligent driving and endangering public safety.

The vehicles and drivers involved include:-XYLO JK20-0290 driven by Iftikhar Ahmed of Gursai Mendhar, Poonch, reportedly challaned 54 times.SUMO JK11-9819 driven by Javid Iqbal of Gunthal Surankote, Poonch, challaned five times.Tempo JK11-4177 driven by Sheraz Ahmed of Kallar Kattel Surankote, Poonch, challaned ten times.

Authorities stated that operating mechanically unfit vehicles on hilly roads is highly dangerous and can lead to serious accidents.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic Rural Jammu) Farooq Qaiser said the matter would be taken up with concerned authorities for possible cancellation of the Registration Certificates of the vehicles and driving licences of the drivers involved. He stressed that strict enforcement against violators will continue to ensure road safety and compliance with fitness regulations.
