SRINAGAR JULY 02:-Social activist Farhan Kitab has made a formal appeal to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to address the pressing issue faced by battery auto drivers operating between Mill Stop and Kashmir University. Kitab urged the administration to grant official routes and support to these drivers to ensure smooth and sustainable transport services for students and commuters.

Battery auto drivers have been facing significant challenges due to the lack of designated routes between Mill Stop and Kashmir University, which has affected their livelihood and the convenience of passengers relying on this eco-friendly mode of transport. The absence of proper routes has led to operational difficulties and limited access, impacting both drivers and commuters alike.

In his appeal, Farhan Kitab highlighted the importance of supporting green transportation initiatives and called for immediate intervention from the Lieutenant Governor’s office. “Battery autos provide an affordable, environment-friendly transportation option for thousands of students and residents daily. It is crucial that the administration recognizes their role and facilitates proper routes to help these drivers operate without hassle,” Kitab said.

The activist emphasized that granting official routes would not only improve the livelihood of battery auto drivers but also contribute to reducing pollution and traffic congestion in the area. With the growing focus on sustainable urban transport, Kitab’s request aligns with broader environmental goals and the promotion of clean energy vehicles in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Lieutenant Governor’s office is expected to review the appeal and take suitable measures to ensure that the concerns of battery auto drivers are addressed promptly. The move is anticipated to enhance the overall public transport system around Kashmir University and support the green mobility mission.
