RAJOURI, JULY 17:– On the directions of Rajesh Kumar Shavan, District Development Commissioner (Principal District Census Officer), Mr. Bilal Rashid, District Statistics Evaluation Officer Rajouri (Dy. Census Officer) conducted extensive tour in various Dhoks i.e. Shaker Marg, Sarota, Thumbal etc. of Tehsil Darhal to get first-hand information form nomadic habitations, migrated in highland pastures in the district. Survey of Tribal Migratory Population, is underway in the District which was initiated on 1st of July, 2021 after the maiden meeting held under the chairmanship of District Dev. Commissioner, Rajouri. The Survey is being done for oriented plan formulation by the various departments keeping in view the various needs of the Tribal Population.
During the tour, DSEO Rajouri Mr. Bilal Rashid interacted with migratory population coming on the way and also during their stay at Dhoks/Pastures in the upper reaches of the District. He took note of various problems faced by them, such as, health related issues, regular education studies, medical care of live stocks, schemes meant for them, benefits, transit infrastructure requirement, disaster relief and measures, network connectivity, livelihood and other socio-economic indicators. He also had an overview of ration availability, Mobile schools, healthcare, veterinary facilities and housing issues. He also assured them for necessary assistance from the Govt. side, as the District Administration in consultation with Administrative Department Tribal Affairs, is planning for providing best facilities during the Migration of Tribal Population.
DSEO Rajouri also informed that, the exercise in the District is being done under the able leadership of Rajesh Kumar Shavan, KAS District Dev. Commissioner, Rajouri and at the UT level supervised by Dr. Shahid Iqbal, IAS Administrative Secretary, Tribal Affairs Department, known for his best innovation practices. The motive behind the survey is to percolate various benefits among the Tribal Population, through a plan which shall include capacity building of the nomadic population as well.
DSEO further informed that, in the District, District Dev. Commissioner has constituted Special Tehsil level committees for enumeration and survey of the tribal population and Tehsildars concerned have been designated as the Nodal officers for enumeration and survey of migratory tribal population of the district. Staff from Education, Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department have been deployed. He also informed that, District Administration Rajouri is committed for greater involvement of tribal communities in plan formulation and active stakeholder partnership and providing quality education, sports, youth engagement, skill upgradation of tribal communities, benefits of FRA, provision of facilities in different sectors including health care, veterinary and employment. He also said that, Administration shall also focus on Promotion of tribal art and culture, languages and traditional knowledge was also discussed during the outreach camps held at various places.
The Addl. District Development Commissioner Pawan Kumar, KAS who is also Nodal Officer Tribal Survey is regularly monitoring the progress of the Survey and asked the concerned officers to put in place added efforts to ensure that the whole data collection exercise as per the format is completed by 21st of July so that the same can be submitted to the higher authorities after proper compilation. He also informed that, till this time, around 329 villages have been covered under the survey enumeration and 6000 families have been registered which are either Semi Migratory or Migratory.
