POONCH AUGUST 25:–The serene ambiance of Hurmi Dhaki Seri Khwaja was electrified as it played host to the District Poonch Pencak Silat Championship 2024-25.
The event saw an impressive turnout of over 100 participants, both boys and girls, competing across various age categories, including Under 14, Under 17, Under 19, and Open. Athletes from diverse regions of District Poonch showcased their martial arts skills, making the championship a thrilling spectacle for all attendees.
The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Mr. Zulifkar Ahmed Mir, Vice Principal of Govt. Higher Secondary School Seri Khawaja. He emphasized the importance of sports in shaping youth character and fostering discipline. Alongside him were Special Guests Mr. Shamim Ahmed Lone, Headmaster of Girls Middle School Hurmi Dhaki, as well as influential figures Shabir Malik and Abdul Majid Rather, who have long supported local sports initiatives.
Javid Iqbal, President of the Pencak Silat Association, and General Secretary Mohd. Riaz Lone played pivotal roles in organizing this championship, ensuring every detail was meticulously handled. They expressed their gratitude to all participants and officials who made the event possible and highlighted the growing popularity of Pencak Silat in the region.
The event’s officiating team, led by Riaz Lone and Ashfaq Malik, worked diligently to maintain fairness and order throughout the competition. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, as competitors demonstrated not only their combat skills but also the spirit of sportsmanship that Pencak Silat embodies.
Rehbar e Khel Teachers Mr. Pervaiz Malik Afridi and Mr. Manzoor Lone provided full technical support for successfully conducting the sports event. Apart from this event both the REK Teachers always give their best to promote sports in our new generations to keep them participate in every sports to keep them healthy mind.
Spectators were treated to an array of impressive performances, as the athletes showcased their agility, precision, and technique. The enthusiastic crowd erupted in cheers for their favorites, encouraging them to push their limits.
