Rajouri July 31:District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today inspected the major developmental works and reviewed the physical progress of major projects being executed in the border district.
The DDC inspected the progress of work at sport stadium Kheora, construction of double lane Abdulah bridge, circular road, hamilton bridge, Irwin Khetar bridge, old bus stand Rajouri, maternity and child health care centre institution, GNM college Rajouri and Model boys higher secondary school Rajouri.The projects reviewed holds significance for strengthening infrastructure in education, tourism and road sectors besides providing enhanced medical facilities to the local populace.
During the visit of Sports Complex which is being executed by PWD, the Executive Engineer PWD informed the DDC that the work on indoor and outdoor stadium is in progress and will be completed by month of October, 2019. DDC fixed deadline of 20 days for completion of Pavilion. He also informed that the cost of construction of indoor and outdoor stadium is 564 lakhs and has been approved under languishing projects.
The DDC also checked the work of construction of double lane Abdullah bridge which connects the Gujjar Mandi with the old bus stand Rajouri. The concerned officer informed that the total cost of the project is 4.78 crores.It was informed that the work has been allotted to the contractor and the work will be started soon.
The DDC took stock of the progress of circular road. It is an important alternate link within the town connecting New bridge to Tariq bridge, thereby reducing the overall distance by around 4-5 kilometers. The initial work on the circular road was done by RDD.The DDC directed the officer of the concerned executing agency to speed up the work on the road so that connectivity to unconnected parts of the city can be confirmed and the traffic congestion at Mandi and kheora could be reduced.
The DDC also paid a visit to Old Bus Stand Rajouri and took stock of macadamization work to be taken up within a week’s time. I He directed the PWD authorities to mobilise their men and machinery and make sure that the work is completed within specified time limits.The concerned officer of PWD informed that the work of drain has been completed.The work of levelling and Blacktopping will be started after monsoons.
The DDC also inspected the progress of work on Hamilton bridge which is a major bridge of Rajouri town as it plays a pivotal role in the area of connectivity. This bridge connects main Rajouri town with the other areas like manjakote and acts an alternate route also. The concerned officer from PWD informed that the construction cost of the bridge is 399 lakhs.The slab on the bridge has been laid and the DDC directed the executing agency to complete the remaining work on bridge, so that the inconvenience of the general public can be mitigated.
During his visit to Irwin Khetar bridge, the concerned officer from PWD informed the DDC that it is a motorable bridge with the construction cost of Rs 137 lakhs and has been approved under the languishing projects.He also informed that the total span of the bridge is 48 metres. He further added that this bridge connects the entire border belt areas with one another and after its completion it would benefit almost 3000 souls.Taking note of the progress it was informed that the slab has been laid.DDC directed the concerned executing agency to expedite the work and complete it on or before the 15th of August.
During his visit to GNM school and hostel Rajouri, it was informed that it is double storey building.The ground floor will accommodate the classes while the first floor will be developed as hostel.Taking stock of progress it was informed that the work is at furnishing stage.The work for the examination block is under progress.The sanctioned cost of the project is being executed by the JKP housing corporation.
Meanwhile, DDC also visited the mother and child hospital being constructed by JK Housing board at an estimated cost of Rs 1.25 crore.The concerned officer informed DDC that after the completion of the building, Gynaecology and pediatrics wards would be shifted here from District Hospital.
The DDC also inspected the construction of skill development center for the specially- abled persons. He said that the facility would enable persons with special needs to learn vocational skills for earning a dignified livelihood. Based on the individual needs, training would be given to specially- abled persons.It was informed that the work on the building is almost complete and directed the concerned to move the furniture, computers and other material at the earliest.
Showing satisfaction over the works inspected today ,the DDC directed the concerned officers to speed up the work and strictly adhere to the specifications and deadlines in the construction cum completion of the projects. He laid special emphasis on ensuring the quality of work.
