DC Rajouri Kicks Off House Enumeration Drive for Census 2027, Leads Public Awareness Campaign

RAJOURI, JUNE 01:-Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, on Sunday inaugurated the House Enumeration phase of Census 2027 from Dak Bungalow Rajouri, formally commencing the district-wide door-to-door population survey.
To create awareness among the public regarding the importance of the census exercise, the Deputy Commissioner also flagged off an awareness rally, urging citizens to actively participate and cooperate with the enumerators.

Among those present on the occasion were Additional Deputy Commissioner Ravi Kumar Sihag and District Statistical & Evaluation Officer Sandeep Sharma.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner revealed that nearly 62,000 residents of Rajouri district successfully completed the self-enumeration process between May 17 and May 31, reflecting encouraging public participation in the digital census initiative.

He informed that from June 1 onwards, trained enumerators have begun visiting households across urban and rural areas to collect demographic information and ensure complete coverage of the population.
Highlighting the significance of the census, Abhishek Sharma said that reliable population data serves as a crucial tool for developmental planning, policy formulation and effective implementation of welfare schemes. He appealed to residents to provide accurate information during the survey process.

The Deputy Commissioner further stated that Census 2027 is being conducted using digital technology, which is expected to improve the accuracy, transparency and efficiency of data collection and processing.
Special arrangements have also been made for the enumeration of nomadic and migratory communities. A coordinated strategy involving the Forest Department, Sheep Husbandry Department and other stakeholder agencies has been put in place to ensure these populations are adequately covered.

He added that chowkidars, enumerators and field staff have been trained for the exercise, while dedicated teams have been deployed along migration routes and seasonal settlements to ensure that no eligible person is left out of the census count.
