Rajouri,April,29:President Municipal Council Rajouri,Mohd Arif today distributed supplementary nutrition items among the benifecries enrolled in the Anganwadi centres here at Town hall Rajouri.
He was accompanied by Vice President Municipal Council Rajouri,Bharat Bushan and ward counsellor,Pushpinder Gupta Supervisor Asha Gupta and other senior citizens.
On the occasion,the supplementary nutrition was distributed among the beneficiaries including nursing mothers, pregnant ladies and children registered with Anganwadi centre of ward No.11 of Rajouri town.The food items distributed include pulses,spices and other items.
Speaking on the occasion,President Municipal Council Rajouri said that in view of the COVID-19 lockdown,the efforts are being made to supply food items to all the beneficiaries enrolled in Anganwadi centres and the drive will continue till all the centres are covered.He said that the items distributed today have been purchased from the market by the District purchase committee.He said that the anganwadi workers have a sole responsibility of providing health and nutrition education and counselling on breastfeeding infants and young feeding practices to mothers beside ensuring the other service rendered through Anganwadi Centres.He said that the Anganwadi workers have an important role to play in eliciting community support and participation in running child development programmes.
While speaking on the occasion,the VICE president Bharat Bushan Sharma said Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme is the largest national programme for the promotion of the mother and child health and their development in the world. The beneficiaries include children below 6 years, pregnant and lactating mothers,and other women. He also assured the public that MC Rajouri is Committed for effective implementation of all schemes in a focused and concerted way so that the desired objectives are achieved at the grass root level.
Ward councillor Pushpinder Gupta also spoke on the ocassion and highlighted the objective of the ICDS scheme.He appealed the parents to get their children enroll in the nearby Anganwadi centres.
