Covid Pendamic Surge DM seeks volunteer help from trained retired/unemployed health workers

Rajouri May 05 :–With 78 deaths and 1569 active cases, Rajouri district continues at number two position after Jammu district in Jammu Province.
175 persons, all locals, were tested positive today while the reports for 5495 samples are still awaited.
77 patients are under treatment in Isolation & ICU wards out of which 75 are on oxygen support and one is on an invasive ventilatory support in the ICU.
After alarming and perturbing trend of Covid-19 positive cases during last 7 days and keeping in view the large number of Health Care Workers (HCWs) getting infected, district administration Rajouri has sought the volunteer help of retired/unemployed persons.
Pertinent to mention here that maximum health centers in remote areas and even Government Medical College & Associated Hospital (GMC&AH), Sub District hospitals, Community Health Centers (CHC) and Primary Health Centers (PHS) have dearth of Doctors, Paramedics.
“The present surge of new Covid variant has also infected many doctors, pharmacists, FMPHWs etc and the district administration as well as health department facing problems in dealing with the heavy rush of Covid patients in the hospitals especially at GMC&AH.
In order to ease the burden on GMC&AH district administration has decided to establish Covid Care Centers (CCC) in Sunderbani, Nowshera, Kaklakot, Darhal, Kandi and Manjakot health blocks.
Those who are living in rented accommodations, having no required facilities at homes for the patients in ‘home isolation’, those patients who don’t have any complications though require isolation, etc will be shifted to these CCCs.
As the Health Department already facing dearth of trained staff etc, doctors and many among them getting infected, District Administration needs trained staff to run these CCCs.
“District Administration has appealed to all the unemployed, qualified/retired health officers/officials, including doctors, paramedical (ANM/MPHW), staff nurses, nursing orderlies, pharmacists etc to join in our fight against Covid pandemic,” said Th.Sher Singh, Additional District Magistrate.
He added these people, want to join Covid Containment & Management’ on voluntary basis will assist in managing the isolations at CCCs and shall also generate awareness about Covid pandemic among the masses.
