College of Engineering Faculty of Horticulture Shalimar in collaboration with KVK Kupwara conducted workshop on Developing *Cadre of Para Hydrologists for Springshed Management

Kupwara December 08:–College of Engineering Faculty of Horticulture SKUAST-K in collaboration with KVK Kupwara today on 8-12-2021 conducted workshop on Developing Cadre of Para Hydrologists for Spring shed management under JAL Abhayaryana Programme of National mission on Himalayas in the Town Hall Kupwara. The workshop was attended by Dr.Sajad Mohi ud din Sr.Scientist & Head KVk Kupwara alongwith scientific and non teaching staff of the KVK and the faculty members from College of Engineering Shalimar.A large number of farm men and women alongwith students from different parts of the district following covid appropriate behaviour participated in the programme. Speaking on the occassion Dr.Sajad Mohi ud din stressed on the conservation of water and springs in the area for drinking and agricultural use and described the role of farmers to safeguard and conserve water bodies in their vicinity.Dr.Raies Ahmad Bhat Scientist Agronomy,delivered lecture on importance of spring water and rejuvenation of springs in district Kupwara and advised farmers to keep the existing springs in their locality neat and clean.Dr.Shakeel Ahmad engg.Soil and water conservation college of engineering described different methods of spring rejuvenation and conservation thereof.Dr.Syed Mohsin Asstt.Prof.college of engineering FoH briefed participants about the conservation of ground water and springs.Programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr.Firdous Ahmad Raina scientist Plant Protection KVK Kupwara
