Cloudburst Damages Middle School Ghoraynak in Mandi, Classrooms Flooded

POONCH, JUNE 02:- A cloudburst struck the area of Ghoraynak in Mandi Tehsil of Poonch district on Tuesday, causing significant damage to the infrastructure of Middle School Ghoraynak.

According to reports, the sudden heavy downpour triggered flash floods that damaged a portion of the school boundary wall and led to the inundation of all classrooms. Large quantities of water and debris entered the school premises, disrupting normal functioning and raising concerns over the safety of students and staff.

Local residents and school authorities expressed concern over the damage caused to the educational institution and urged the administration to take immediate measures for restoration and protection of the school infrastructure. They also demanded an assessment of losses and the construction of adequate flood protection measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

No loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident. However, the cloudburst has highlighted the vulnerability of educational institutions located in disaster-prone areas of the district.

Officials are expected to assess the extent of the damage and initiate necessary relief and repair works at the earliest.
