SRINAGAR APRIL 13:-In a significant step toward strengthening healthcare infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi has initiated the construction of a dedicated cancer hospital in the Eidgah area of Srinagar. The move is being widely seen as a much-needed intervention to address the growing burden of cancer cases in the region.

Welcoming the initiative, Mohammad Faheem Reshi, Social-Political Leader, contested candidate from 25 Eidgah Constituency, and Chairman of Greater Shah-re-Khaas, termed the project a “historic and people-centric initiative.” He said the hospital would significantly ease the hardships faced by patients who currently have to travel outside Jammu & Kashmir for advanced cancer treatment.

Reshi highlighted the long-standing challenges faced by cancer patients in Kashmir, including emotional distress and financial strain due to lack of adequate facilities within the region. “This hospital is not just a building—it is a symbol of hope for thousands of families,” he stated.

He further emphasized that the establishment of a specialized cancer care facility in Eidgah would ensure timely diagnosis, improved accessibility, and better treatment outcomes. Stressing the importance of public welfare, Reshi remarked, “Healthcare is a basic right, not a privilege. Initiatives like this reflect governance that truly prioritizes people.”

Taking a critical stance on past administrations, Reshi noted that earlier governments had failed to address key healthcare needs. He expressed hope that this project would mark a shift towards accountability and development-driven governance.

He also urged authorities to complete the project within a stipulated timeframe and ensure it is equipped with modern technology, skilled medical professionals, and affordable treatment options. Transparency and public oversight, he added, would be crucial in preventing delays and ensuring quality delivery.

Reaffirming his commitment to public service, Reshi said he would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving the lives of people. “This cancer hospital is a step forward towards a healthier and stronger nation,” he concluded.
