Bangus Valley Tribal Welfare Trust Delegation Calls on Lt Governor; Seeks Resolution of Tribal Issues and Youth Concerns

SRINAGAR, JUNE 02: A delegation of the Bangus Valley Tribal Welfare Trust, led by Choudhary Saleem Gujjar and Choudhary Shaheen Bajad, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir at Raj Bhavan, Srinagar, and apprised him of several pressing issues concerning tribal communities and the youth of Kashmir.

During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the need for the comprehensive development of Bangus Valley, including promotion of eco-tourism, improved road connectivity, and the provision of basic amenities for the tribal population residing in the region.

The delegation also raised the Raika Bandi Sidra tribal issue, seeking immediate redressal of land and rehabilitation concerns of tribal families whose houses were demolished in Sidra.

Emphasizing the challenges faced by the youth, the members urged the administration to create more employment opportunities, establish skill development centres, and strengthen sports infrastructure in tribal areas across Kashmir.

Another major concern discussed was the growing menace of drug abuse among youth. The delegation called for urgent and effective measures to eradicate the drug problem, particularly in tribal belts where awareness and rehabilitation initiatives are needed.

Several social activists and youth leaders from Kashmir Province, including Mustafa Ali, Yasir Wani, and Mohd Shafi Khatana, also participated in the meeting and raised issues related to education, healthcare, and the overall social welfare of tribal communities.

The Lieutenant Governor gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them that all genuine issues would be examined and addressed on priority. He reiterated the Jammu & Kashmir Administration’s commitment to tribal welfare, youth empowerment, and inclusive development across the Union Territory.

The delegation expressed gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor for his assurance and hoped that the concerns of tribal communities would receive timely attention and resolution.
