    RAJOURI DEC 06:-In a significant effort to support the educational aspirations of underprivileged tribal students, the Gujjar and Bakkarwal Hostel in Kalakote, under the Tribal Affairs Department, has become a beacon of hope. The hostel provides free accommodation, food, medical care, books, and uniforms to students from the BPL (Below Poverty Line) category, allowing them to pursue education from the 6th to 11th grade.

    This initiative is transforming the lives of many students, with a majority of them aspiring to join the Indian Army and serve the nation. The education offered is not limited to the hostel itself but extends to various government schools in the Kalakote region, where students receive additional tuition support within the hostel.

    Around 100 students from various parts of Rajouri district are currently benefiting from this program, paving the way for a brighter future. With a focus on providing quality education and holistic support, the Gujjar and Bakkarwal Hostel is nurturing the dreams of these young minds and empowering them to achieve their goals.

    Through this initiative, the Tribal Affairs Department is helping the poor and marginalized students of the Gujjar and Bakkarwal communities build a solid foundation for their future, contributing to their growth and the nation’s development.

    RAJOURI DEC 06:-Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) today observed Mahaparinirvan Diwas, marking the death anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the revered architect of the Indian Constitution and a tireless advocate for social justice and equality. The day was commemorated with deep reverence to honor Dr. Ambedkar’s transformative contributions to Indian society.

    In his message, Prof. (Dr.) Jawaid Iqbal, Vice Chancellor of BGSBU, paid heartfelt tributes to Dr. Ambedkar, highlighting his pivotal role in shaping India’s democratic framework. “Dr. Ambedkar’s commitment to equality, justice, and the empowerment of marginalized communities continues to inspire us,” Prof. Iqbal said. “As an educational institution, it is our duty to uphold his ideals and ensure that every individual, regardless of caste, religion, or background, has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to society.”

    The ceremony, organized by the Department of Management Studies, began with the ceremonial offering of flowers at Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait. Faculty, staff, and students gathered to pay their respects, reflecting on the profound impact of Dr. Ambedkar’s work. Dr. Parvez Abdullah, Head of the Department of Management Studies, delivered a moving tribute to Babasaheb Ambedkar, emphasizing his legacy as a champion of social equality and justice.

    The event, conducted by Dr. Gourav Sehgal, Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Studies, was marked by an atmosphere of reflection and reverence. The gathering pledged to follow Dr. Ambedkar’s teachings of social justice and equality, committing themselves to work towards a more inclusive and equitable society.

    The observance of Mahaparinirvan Diwas at BGSBU underscores the university’s ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive academic environment that aligns with Dr. Ambedkar’s vision of social transformation and equality for all.

    RAJOURI DEC 05:-Abdul Raouf Dar, retired principal, has been unanimously elected as the new President of Private School Association Rajouri district.
    As no nomination was filed for other posts, newly elected president, Raouf Dar was authorised by the members to nominate other office holders of the new body.
    An impressive function was organised at DS High School Rajouri to administer an oath to nominated office bearers and to felicitate them.
    Members of the association congratulated the new president, Raouf Dar and hoped that he will take the association to new heights on the basis of his experience which he has gained in various capacities in the education department.
    Other office bearers nominated include Lokesh Bakshi as Sr. Vice president; Kanu Badyal as Vice president; Pervaiz Ahmed as General Secretary, and Shezad Ahmed as members.
    Shri K.K Langer was appointed as Chief Advisor while Mohammad Javaid (Retd Joint Director SED), Mohammad Shafi Dar, Prithvi Khoker, Sham Lal, Babu Khan, Ibrar Malik Bader Ud Din Malik, Shaheryar, Abdul Latief Mirza and Raza Ul Haq were nominated as advisors.
    Those who addressed the members on this occasion include Lokesh Bakhsi, Khurshid Bismal, K. K. Langer, G.N. Kamlak, Muslim Wani and Pervaiz Ahmed.
    Newly elected President Abdul Raouf Dar highlighted various issues being faced by private schools of the district and hoped that the newly elected body with the support of the private school community will solve the burning issues at various levels.
    He appealed to the Zonal Presidents and other community members to be united and work for academic excellence of students at private schools and prepare them for future challenges.

    RAJOURI DEC 05:-As a part of its efforts to curb anti-national activities poses a threat to peace and stability in the district, Poonch police on Wednesday (December 5) conducted searches at the residences of four suspected Over Ground Workers (OGWs) at different locations in Mendhar Tehsil.
    All the four suspected OGWs are involved in various cases and FIRs have been registered against them at Mendhar police station.
    Acting on credible intelligence inputs, district Poonch police meticulously planned
    search operations which were carried out on Wednesday morning to gather evidence and disrupt activities that pose a threat to peace and stability in the region.

    “The individuals whose houses were searched are believed to have been providing logistical support, shelter, and other assistance to terrorists in the area,” police said.

    The search operation marks another step in the ongoing efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem in the region.
    Senior officials/officers overseeing the operation have emphasized their commitment to rooting out all elements involved in anti-national activities and ensuring the safety of civilians.
    The Jammu and Kashmir Police Poonch have appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and share any information that can aid in the fight against terrorism.
    It is pertinent to mention here that it has been observed during searches after anti-terror operations that the locals and OGWs are providing shelter, assistance and other logistical support to terrorists either after their infiltration or in the hinterland.
    The suspected Over Ground Workers (OGWs) whose residences were searched have been identified as Mohd Nasar @ Jiggar son of Mohd Rafiq & resident of Sakhimadan (presently in Balnoi village); Mehmood Hussain son of Talib Hssain resident of village Dehri Dabsi (presently at Kotan); Mohd Khalid son of Said Mohd of village Dharana; and Abdul Aziz son of Mohd Bashir resident of village Bhatidhar.
    All these villages are situated along the Line of Control in Mendhar Tehsil of Poonch district.
    The police have not shared any information related to seizure of any incriminating material or militancy related evidence.

    POONCH, DEC 05: In Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch, Vikas Kundal on Thursday chaired a meeting here in the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex order to review the implementation of PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana)-Urban scheme in District.

    At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner took a detailed review of the physical and financial status of the PMAY- Urban cases identified and approved in the District.

    It was informed that as many as 631 PMAY- Urban cases were sanctioned in District Poonch of which 418 houses are complete, while remaining are at the construction stage.

    The meeting was also apprised about release of installments to the verified beneficiaries and expenditure made so-far under the scheme.

    The DC directed the concerned Officers to ensure that the guidelines are followed in letter and spirit so that all genuine eligible beneficiaries are covered under the scheme in the district.

    He instructed the Executing Officer to ensure completion of all houses within stipulated time and instructed to verify 15 beneficiary cases personally on a daily basis

    Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner visited Ward No. 11 of Poonch Municipal Committee and congratulated a beneficiary who built his house by availing PMAY Urban Scheme benefits. The interactions between the beneficiaries and the DC were remarkably candid. The beneficiaries also shared their heartfelt gratitude to the government for such initiatives.

The new complex is expected to streamline legal processes and ensure efficient delivery of justice.
