Army Chief visit BG to take stock of security situation.

RAJOURI OCTOBER 18:— Amid ongoing Counter-Terrorist Operations in Rajouri & Poonch districts, in which two JCOs and seven soldiers have attained martyrdom, Army Chief Gen Manoj Mukund Naravane on Monday visited Bhimber Gali (BG) to take stock of the security situation on ground.
Sources said Army Chief was briefed about the security situation by the senior officers of the Rajouri Division and reportedly before returning to New Delhi on Tuesday Gen Naravane will visit the forward areas and will interact with the soldiers.

No major success was achieved on Monday against the terrorists on the 8th day of Counter Terrorist Operations in Nar Khas (5th day today) forest in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district where four soldiers including a JCO had attained martyrdom on October 14.
Army and J&K Police on intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in Shahdra –Panghai belt in Rajouri district had launched search & destroy operation on the night of October 10 and in the early morning hours on October 11 a contact was established with the terrorists in Chamrer area (in Poonch district) & during the ensuing gunfight a JCO & 4 soldiers were martyred & the terrorists managed to escape.
To track and eliminate the terrorists Army, J&K police, paramilitary troops launched Counter Terrorist Operations (CTOs) in large forested areas in both the districts and in the evening on October 14 a third contact (maybe with the same group) was established with the terrorists in a forested area Nar Khas in Bhata Dhuruian village along Jammu-Poonch highway.
“During the exchange of fire a JCO and three soldiers received fatal injuries and attained martyrdom and once again terrorists managed to escape.
Since October 14, the Security Forces have cordoned off the entire forested area and terrorists hiding at a very safer place intermittently(1-3 times in a day) responding to heavy firing/ mortar shelling by the Army reportedly to save their stock of ammunition.
“Army now advancing cautiously towards the hiding place of the terrorists for the final assault, who seems to be highly trained by the Pakistani commandos in jungle warfare. Operation against terrorists continuing even during the night as the army using illumination rounds to locate their presence” said sources.
