RAJOURI, MAY 17:-With Eid-ul-Adha (Bakra Eid) approaching, people across Rajouri district have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri to fix the official rates per kilogram for live goats and sheep in order to protect the general public from overpricing and exploitation.
Residents have expressed serious concern over the unchecked rise in prices of sacrificial animals, alleging that many sellers are charging excessively high rates in the name of Eid-ul-Adha. According to the public, the prices of goats and sheep have crossed all reasonable limits, making it difficult for common and economically weaker families to fulfill the religious obligation of Qurbani.
The people have urged the district administration to intervene at the earliest and issue a proper rate list for live animals per kilogram, besides constituting market checking teams to ensure strict implementation of the fixed rates in all markets across the district.
The public also demanded regular inspections and action against black marketing, profiteering, and unfair trade practices during the festive season so that consumers are not looted by traders.
Citizens hope that the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri will take immediate steps in the larger public interest and ensure fair pricing before Eid-ul-Adha.
