BUDHAL JUNE 18:-An awareness camp was organized today at Kewal by the Animal Husbandry Department, Jammu, to create awareness among farmers and unemployed youth about various livestock development and self-employment schemes of the department.
During the programme, participants were sensitized about flagship initiatives including the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme (IDDS), which provide opportunities for establishing and expanding dairy, sheep, goat, poultry, and other livestock-based enterprises. The participants were encouraged to avail these schemes to generate sustainable income and employment.
The camp also focused on creating awareness regarding various diseases affecting livestock, their prevention, vaccination, treatment, and mitigation strategies. Free medicines were distributed among livestock farmers attending the programme.
Dr. Sajjad, Extension Officer, Publicity Wing, Animal Husbandry Department, delivered a detailed awareness lecture on the departmental schemes and livestock management practices. Dr. Gulab Singh, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (VAS), and Dr. Jameel, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (VAS), also addressed the gathering and shared valuable insights on animal healthcare and scientific livestock rearing.
Former Sarpanch Kewal, Mohd Farooq Inqlabi, appreciated the Animal Husbandry Department for organizing the awareness camp and bringing information about welfare schemes directly to the people. He said that programmes like HADP and IDDS have immense potential to transform the rural economy by creating employment opportunities for youth and improving the livelihoods of farming families.
He urged unemployed youth and livestock farmers to actively participate in such programmes and take full advantage of the government schemes for establishing self-employment ventures and strengthening the livestock sector in the region.
