RAJOURI MARCH 27:-The Jammu & Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case and arrested two forest officials for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe in Rajouri district.

According to officials, a formal case vide FIR No. 04/2026 was registered at Police Station ACB Rajouri under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) against Md. Zaman, Forest Guard, and Ajaz Ahmed, Forester, posted in the Forest Department, Range Kandi, Rajouri.

The case was initiated following a complaint alleging that the complainant was undertaking construction work, including digging a septic tank and an underground water tank on his private land where his house already exists. On March 13, 2026, the Forest Guard reportedly visited the site and stopped the work, claiming that the land fell under the forest department.

Despite the complainant asserting ownership of the land, the accused allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹50,000 and threatened to halt the work if the amount was not paid. Under pressure, the complainant paid ₹30,000 through a bank transfer to the accounts provided by the accused officials. However, they allegedly continued to harass him and demanded an additional ₹10,000.

Unable to bear the pressure, the complainant approached the ACB and lodged a written complaint seeking legal action.

Acting on the complaint, the ACB team laid a trap and caught both accused officials red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹7,000 from the complainant. Both were arrested on the spot.

Following the arrests, searches were also conducted at the residential houses of the accused in Rajouri. The ACB has stated that further investigation into the case is underway.
