recorded 52% turnout in Marwah and 58% turnout in Warwan DDC Constituencies
Kishtwar November 28 :– Voting ended today peacefully in kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir under the first phase of ongoing DDC and Panchayat By elections under the overall supervision of District Panchayat Election Officer Kishtwar Ashok Kumar Sharma.
The polling in the first phase was conducted for 02 DDC Constituencies of Marwah and Warwan.Besides it polls for 7 vacant sarpanch and 39 vacant panch seats of Marwah Block and 4 Sarpanch and 7 vacant panch seats of Warwan were also held today.
Despite the heavy snow fall witnessed earlier this week, the public showed a great enthusiasm and participation in casting their votes which is witnessed with good voter turn out.
Polling started at 7 a.m. amid tight security in 2 DDC constituencies spread over the Marwah and Warwan Valley of district Kishtwar and ended with a turnout of 52.83 in Marwah DDC and 58.51 % turnout in Warwan DDC constituency.Whereas the poll per centage for sarpanch by-election was observed as 49% in
Marwah Block and 56% in Warwan and the turnout in the panch elections was 64 % in Marwah Block and 58 % in Warwan Block.
The voting for the 14 DDC constituencies besides by-polls for 23 sarpanch and 90 panch vacant seats is being held in seven phases over a month period in the district.
District Panchayat Election Officer Kishtwar Ashok Kumar Sharma has congratulated the people of Marwah and Warwan for making this election a grand success by braving the harsh weather conditions.He has also appreciated the efforts of polling personnel and security agencies for playing vital role in conduct of this election and thereby strengthening the grass root level democracy.
