Rajouri,October 30:–Continuing the efforts to pay homage to martyrs and to recount their sacrifices, Jammu and Kashmir police here in Rajouri renamed a number of chowks and roads on the names of police martyrs and also held a debate in Darhal.
Police said that the memorial built in the memory of Martyr DySP Ghanisham Khajuria at Kallar chowk has been renovated and rebuilt after which a professional tribute ceremony was held there in which SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli, AdSP Rajouri HQrs Liyaqit Ali, SI Ashish Chowdhary, BDC Chairman Doongi, PRIs, civil society members and family members of martyr officer were present.
All the participants offered floral tributes to the martyr who sacrificed his life in line of duty.
SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli said that Martyr DySP Ghanisham Khajuria is counted as a brave cop of J&K Police who played his pivotal role on Counter Insurgency front and shall always be remembered.
The main chowk Kallar on Jammu Poonch national highway was than renamed as ‘Ghanisham chowk’ after the name of martyr.
In Darhal, a debate competition on the topic ‘ Police Martyrs’ was held at Sher e Kashmir Higher Secondary School Darhal in which a large number of locals, PRI, Tehsildar Darhal, SDPO Thanamandi, SHO Darhal and others took part wherein all the speakers spoke about sacrifices made by police martyrs in the line of duty.
Thereafter Darhal Topa road was renamed after Head Constable Mohammad Fareed and Ujhan Thandkot road after the name of Head Constable Sarwer Hussain.
Similarly in Manjakote, main road chowk at Hayatpora was named after the name of SPO Shahbaz Ahmed and was named as Shahbaz Chowk whereas link road from Kakora to Thill has been named after Head Constable Abdul Rashid in the presence of SDPO Manjakote and SHO Manjakote.
