The highly educated youth is going to be the victim! Sayeed Mughal Chairman J&K Human Development Foundation (Regd.)Rajouri

Sayeed Mughal Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Human Development Foundation ( Regd.)Rajouri  express hike in retirement age of professors of universities and colleges of jammu and Kashmir. Sayeed  Mughal said that retirement is a period which every employee has to face. It is a point where the service, efforts, and ideas are no longer needed by the organization from the employees. The options are either the person will retire early, retire at a predetermined age, or extending an employment contract for a few more years. Retirement also can be caused due to unforeseen events like accidents etc. Retirement falls under one of the phases of career development, which happens to be the last phase of an individual’s career. At the last phase of employment, Some people easily accept it, as it is and some others may find it hard to face. But on the whole, like it or not, this phase has to come ultimately. Sayeed Mughal said that Surprisingly, the Government of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is going to increase the retirement age of Professors of Universities and colleges from the existing 62 years to 65 years. This move is going to have an immense adverse effect on the level and distribution of employment. It pertains to mention that in 1998, the superannuation age in India had been hiked from 58 to 60. Similarly, in 2017, the Government of India decided to increase the superannuation age of central government doctors to 65 years. This step was forced on account of a large number of existing vacancies and further future depletion of doctors that was threatening deterioration in the quality of health care. Although, several states have also adopted the hike in retirement age but, to adopt this policy at the time when the unemployment rate of the country and especially the UT of J&K is the highest, this will not be a welcome step. Policies design play a vital important role to absorb unemployed youth, anti youth policy are on the top of the agenda of this govt. Ssyeed Mughal said that educated young has already been fed up with many of these policies. By making these types of policies govt. is inviting wrath and anger of youth which is already on boil. Previous records of JKPSC and other recruitment bodies speaks a lot about its infirmity and clearly shows how transparent it remained! This is the time to explicit the attention towards unemployment rather than to bless those who are earning a super handsome salary. Certainly, the government should compensate for the negative employment effects through appropriate demand policies by considering the retirement of Professors as existing. In Jammu and Kashmir, unemployment is at its peak and there is no window to increase the age of Professors. If we see the rate of higher education, the break-off in the recruitment has already lead to an increase in the Ph.D. and Post-Doc youth manifold.

Mughal said that the teacher never retires, if they want to carry out the work there are several central government descent schemes like, emeritus Professors/Scientist that can be pleased for those who had done their distinguished services. Keeping these things in mind the youth is in deep shock as to why the Hon’ble Governor is all set to enhance the retirement age rather than provide an opportunity for the unemployed young minds. The unemployed youth is already underprivileged and disadvantaged, and is the biggest victim of the turmoil, followed by Covid-19. The strongest impact of this proposal will be on the unemployment rate of J&K which may surge highest to date. Therefore, the implementation of extending the retirement age of Professors of University and Colleges from 62 to 65 for Jammu and Kashmir needs to be scrutinized carefully by the government. If it needs to be implemented, necessary measures are required to be taken to control its negative impact on our surroundings. Mughal said that the application to extend the retirement age must be considered and viewed thoroughly to ensure its effectiveness. Only by selecting the contributing workers will ensure continuous performance simultaneously avoiding the unemployment catastrophe of the highly educated youth. Believe my write-up, without underestimating the wisdom of those who are seeking this benefit, the young minds are far above and energetic in the education, skill, science and technology and research. We request the Hon’ble Governor UT of Jammu and Kashmir to take concern on the unemployment crises and address the aggrieved youth. Sayeed Mughal Chair JKHDF On behalf of the youth, I request the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of UT of J&K to have mercy on the age of unemployed youth, virtually the Ph.D. and Pos-Doc youth are already at the age of their mid-30s and the wait for a period of 4-5 due to delay in the process of advertisement have already created mantle stress and trauma. To increase the age limit is a grave injustice to the young intellectuals who after attaining all the pre requisites will still have to wait more!  If u r increasing retirement age limit , then what is alternate for youth. The youth had a deep expectation on the government’s policies towards modern J&K. Are these the so-called Ache din ?
