SRINAGAR NOV, 01:-Srinagar Member of Parliament Syed Aga Ruhullah Mehdi has spoken about his impending resignation from the National Conference (NC), his future political course and the possibility of forming a new political force in Jammu and Kashmir.

In an exclusive conversation with journalist Pirzada Shakir, Ruhullah said his immediate priority was to identify and associate with people who are committed to principles, integrity and clean politics.

He disclosed that he was in contact with several political parties, including the Congress, but maintained that any possible political understanding would depend on their willingness to accept and pursue the political agenda of the people of Kashmir.

Responding to reports of growing discontent among 18 National Conference MLAs, Ruhullah indicated that some party leaders had approached him, reflecting the concerns being raised within sections of the party.

He also questioned the ideological direction of the National Conference and its leadership under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, suggesting that differences over political principles and the party’s approach had contributed to his present position.

Drawing parallels with the political circumstances of former National Conference leader Saifuddin Soz, Ruhullah reflected on the similarities between their respective political positions and differences with the party leadership.

His remarks have brought renewed attention to the evolving political situation in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the possibility of new political alignments and the emergence of an alternative political platform.

While Ruhullah has indicated that he is exploring future possibilities, his next political move appears to hinge on finding like-minded individuals and establishing a political understanding around the aspirations and agenda of the people of Kashmir. www.gnsonline.in
