MENDHAR, APRIL 08:- Advocate Fareed Choudhary voiced grave concerns regarding the deteriorating healthcare system in Mendhar, highlighting critical shortcomings in the functioning of Sub District Hospital Mendhar and raising alarm over inadequate monitoring of medical shops in the area.
Adv. Fareed Choudhary stated that the hospital, which serves a vast population across Mendhar and its adjoining areas, is currently operating without a Block Medical Officer (BMO). The absence of a BMO, he said, has resulted in a serious lack of administrative oversight, ultimately affecting the efficiency, discipline, and overall functioning of the institution. He emphasized that proper supervision is essential to ensure accountability and smooth delivery of healthcare services.
He further pointed out that the hospital is facing an acute shortage of specialist doctors, forcing patients to either wait for extended periods or travel long distances to access specialized medical care. This situation, he noted, is particularly distressing for economically weaker sections who rely entirely on government healthcare facilities.
According to him, the hospital is grappling with multiple issues, including inadequate staff strength, shortage of essential medicines, and lack of basic medical infrastructure. Patients visiting the hospital reportedly face long waiting hours, insufficient treatment facilities, and overall poor service delivery, which raises serious concerns about the quality of healthcare being provided.
In addition to hospital-related issues, Adv. Fareed Choudhary also drew attention to the alleged lack of strict monitoring by drug control authorities over medical shops operating in the region. He expressed concern that some medical stores may be involved in irregular practices, including unauthorized sale of medicines and commission-based distribution. He warned that such practices not only violate regulatory norms but also pose a serious threat to public health. Of particular concern, he stated, is the potential misuse of medicines among the youth, which could lead to long-term health and social consequences if not addressed promptly.
Calling the situation alarming, Adv. Fareed Choudhary urged the concerned authorities to take immediate and decisive action to restore the healthcare system in Mendhar. He stressed the need for immediate appointment of a Block Medical Officer to ensure proper supervision, deployment of specialist doctors to meet the growing healthcare needs of the population, strengthening of hospital infrastructure including availability of medicines and staff, and regular inspection and strict monitoring of medical shops by drug control authorities.
He emphasized that timely intervention by the administration is crucial to prevent further deterioration of the healthcare system and to ensure that people receive the basic medical services they are entitled to. Adv. Fareed Choudhary concluded by stating that healthcare is a fundamental right, and any negligence in this sector directly impacts the well-being and safety of the public. He urged the administration to act swiftly and responsibly in addressing these pressing issues to restore public trust and ensure quality healthcare services in Mendhar.
