SRINAGAR MARCH 05:-Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has expressed deep concern over the reported attack on an Iranian warship and said that the safety of people from the Union Territory currently in Iran remains the government’s top priority.
While speaking to the media, Abdullah described the incident as “deeply unfortunate” and said that the government is closely monitoring the situation amid escalating tensions in West Asia. He added that the J&K administration is coordinating with the Government of India to ensure the safety and possible evacuation of residents from the region who are currently in Iran.
“Our immediate concern is the safety of people from Jammu & Kashmir currently in Iran. We are coordinating with the Government of India to ensure their safe return,” Abdullah said.
He also appealed for calm in the Union Territory and urged people not to allow the evolving international situation to disturb peace and harmony in the region.
The statement comes amid rising tensions following reports that an Iranian warship was sunk during the ongoing conflict in the region, further escalating the crisis.
