POONCH JUNE 26:-The District Magistrate Rugby Championship 2025 commenced today at the Sports Stadium in Poonch, drawing enthusiastic participation from teams across various regions of the district.
The event is being organized by the District Administration Poonch in collaboration with the District Youth Services and Sports Office (DYSSO) Poonch, aiming to promote sportsmanship, physical fitness, and youth engagement through the dynamic sport of rugby.
The chief guest for the opening match was Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal (IAS) who inaugurated the tournament and encouraged the athletes to exhibit their best performance with a spirit of fair play and unity. In his address, DC Kundal lauded the efforts of the organizers and emphasized the importance of such events in fostering discipline and camaraderie among the youth.
Teams from various parts of the district are participating, showcasing the growing interest in rugby as a competitive sport in the region. Spectators witnessed thrilling matches on the opening day, with players displaying excellent skills, teamwork, and determination.
The championship is expected to continue over the coming days with knockout rounds and finals, aiming to identify and nurture local talent for higher-level competitions.
