CHENAB VALLEY MAY 02:-The Pahalgam terror attack shocked the entire nation, resulting in the deaths of 26 people, including two foreign tourists and a local pony wala, on April 22 in the Baisaran Valley, commonly known as the Mini Switzerland of Kashmir.
This horrific and cowardly act caused immense human suffering that can never be regained, and it may take decades to restore the trust of visitors in the region.

Jammu and Kashmir is renowned for its hospitality, welcoming guests who come to explore and support the tourism sector. This attack marks one of the first instances in which tourists were specifically targeted, aiming to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere and incite fear among different religious communities.
According to various reports and statements from rescued tourists, the terrorists first inquired about the names and religions of their victims before targeting Hindu tourists. While the investigation is ongoing and the details cannot yet be confirmed, it is clear that the attack was barbaric and cowardly, as only male tourists were targeted in the presence of their families.

A viral video featuring Himanshi Narwal, the wife of Vinay Narwal, a Navy officer, revealed her distress as she recounted how they were simply enjoying their honeymoon when a man confronted and shot her husband, seemingly aware that he was not Muslim. This video has left the nation in tears, as the couple had just recently celebrated their wedding.
The terrorists behind this attack are inhumane, committing acts far worse than animals, without a thought for the innocent lives they have taken.

In the aftermath, national media outlets attempted to unfairly blame the local Kashmiris for the attack, directing anger towards local Pony Walas and other individuals whose hospitality is known and appreciated around the world.
Among the tourists, a local pony wala named Syed Adil Hussain Shah lost his life while bravely attempting to protect the tourists. He confronted the terrorists and fought back, but ultimately lost his life in this tragic incident.

The entire region of Jammu and Kashmir observed a complete shutdown in support of the innocent tourists who were killed. Announcements were made by religious scholars and Islamic preachers from Jamia Masjids across the region to condemn the barbaric attack. The Imams of these mosques strongly condemned and opposed terrorism, stating that Islam does not support such actions, as mentioned in the Holy Quran.

Religious scholars, including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Grand Mufti Nasrul Islam, and Shahi Imam Jammu Mufti Inayatullah Qasmi, also condemned the attack during Friday prayers. They observed two minutes of silence to express solidarity with the families of the deceased tourists.

The terror attack has raised several unanswered questions, such as how tourist areas can be opened without any security deployment. Why is there no proper entry registration at police stations for the arrival of tourists? In hilly terrain, where security measures are essential, deployment is crucial.
A renowned columnist and political activist recently wrote about “Pahalgam Bleeds Again,” a grim reminder of history. As U.S. Vice President Vance visits India, a terror attack has struck Pahalgam, Kashmir—a chilling echo of the Chittisinghpora massacre that occurred during President Bill Clinton’s visit in March 2000.

Back then, 35 Sikhs were brutally killed in Chitti Singh Pora just as Clinton arrived in India. The timing raised many questions: Was it a message, a distraction, or a staged narrative? We never learned the full truth. Now, we face another tragedy in Pahalgam that coincides with another high-profile American visit. The patterns are too familiar to ignore.

“Who benefits from these acts? Who orchestrates them? And why do so many remain silent?”

Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. However, mere silence is not sufficient. We must question, remember, and demand answers—not 25 years later, but now.

Despite these concerns, the entire nation, along with several countries, has extended support to India in its efforts to combat terrorism. The national political parties stand united behind any decisions made by the Government of India regarding terrorism and the involvement of Pakistan in these attacks.

Rahul Gandhi, Member of Parliament and Leader of the Opposition writes to Hon’ble Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, to request a special session in both houses as the nation unites against terrorism.

In these dark times, when terror struck the serene Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam, Mushtaq Pahalgami emerged as a beacon of light—a symbol of courage, compassion, and unwavering service. An internationally recognized environmentalist, peace activist, and award-winning social worker, Mushtaq Pahalgam has dedicated his life to the welfare of Kashmir by protecting its fragile ecosystems and promoting harmony among its diverse communities. In the wake of the recent attack, his spirit shone brighter than ever.

Without hesitation, he rushed to aid the injured, comfort grieving families, and mobilize his team for ongoing relief efforts. His bravery in the face of fear and compassion for the suffering offered hope when it was most needed.
Mushtaq organized a powerful candlelight march in Pahalgam, followed by multiple peaceful gatherings across the region—collective expressions of grief, solidarity, and resolve. His historic public appeal for the Lidder Valley bandh on April 23 resonated deeply with the people, uniting the entire region in a peaceful stand against violence.

On the day of the bandh, Mushtaq led silent protests and peaceful marches, reminding us that Kashmir’s soul is rooted in peace and brotherhood. His statements to the media were filled with messages of unity, not anger, earning him the respect and admiration of all.
Adding to this legacy of courage, his cousin Sajad Ahmed risked his life to rescue injured tourists on foot amidst live terrorist fire—an act that made international headlines and showcased the family’s deep-rooted values of humanity, service, and fearlessness.
Today, we salute Mushtaq Pahalgami and his family, along with all other tourist guides and tour operators—not just for what they have done, but for who they are: guardians of peace, protectors of people, and the beating heart of a compassionate Kashmir.
May their example inspire us all as Kashmir stands united with all its saviours. The nation salutes them, and the world recognizes their efforts, dedication, and hospitality. Junaid Malik explained.

The entire nation came together as one voice, united beyond caste, creed, religion, and gender, urging the Government of India to take decisive action against Pakistan and the terrorist organizations operating from Jammu and Kashmir. This call for action was made to ensure the safety and security of all individuals.

The Jammu and Kashmir government is working hard to restore visitors’ confidence in their safety and security following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. The National Investigating Agency (NIA) is investigating the incident and has detained hundreds of suspects, including individuals believed to have supported terrorist groups that disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir.
