Home Minister Amit Shah plans to order delimitation of constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir will end up in a whimper. It is nothing but a propaganda to keep pot boiling for the sake of Assembly polls Sayeed Bashir Ahmed Veeri Said.

Kashmir Valley has more seats, just because it houses 15 lakh souls more than Jammu Division.

All figures quoted here are from 2011 Census Document of Government of India.

There is gross misconception that Kashmir Valley has been unfairly granted more assembly seats to keep power centre in Srinagar.

Many learned people, even in media, out of their ignorance buy this argument.

Let us look at hard facts:

Kashmir has 46 assembly segments, while Jammu has 37 and Ladakh (four).

Total population of Jammu and Kashmir: 1,25,41302

Kashmir Valley: 68,8847 5

Average population per assembly constituency in Kashmir Valley: 1,49,749

Total population of Jammu Division: 53,78539

Average population per assembly constituency in Jammu Division: 1,45365

Difference in population between Kashmir Valley and Jammu Division: 15,09936

Ladakh Division:

Total population: 2,74289

Average population per assembly constituency in Ladakh Division: 68,572
