World Earth Day-2023 Celebrations concluded at Faculty of Agriculture Wadura, SKUAST-Kashmir

SOPORE MAY 09 :–The fortnight long celebrations of World Earth Day-2023 under the theme “Invest in Our Planet” organized by Division of Agronomy, sponsored by Ministry of Earth Science, Govt. of India, concluded on May 09, 2023 at Conference Hall of Faculty of Agriculture Wadura Campus, SKUAST-K. At the outset, Prof. Raihana H. Kanth, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, enlightened the students with the importance of World Earth Day. She emphasized that on this day; let us reaffirm our commitment towards creating a better planet for our future generations and work together to mitigate the menace of climate change. The Chief Guest of this programme Dr. Farida Khan, BDC Chairperson Sopore, called upon every human being on upholding the objectives of safeguarding and saving the Mother Earth against the wanton destruction of the forest, animals and the pollution of water bodies, air, soil across the world which is resulting in climate change. The series of events starting from 22nd April, 2023 were held during the celebration of Earth Day-2023 by organizing a plantation drive, cleanliness drive, elocution, singing, quiz, poetry, rangoli and painting competitions. The winners of the competitions conducted during the event were felicitated by the Chief Guest & Dean with certificates and prizes. The programme was attended by heads of various divisions, faculty members, local people and more than 200 UG/PG students of the faculty & students & teachers of nearby schools.
