WORKSHOP ON POPULARIZATION OF SCIENCE BEGINS AT GGHSS RAJOURI

Rajouri,April,25:National Council for Urban and Rural Development Society Jammu in collaboration with Govt. Girls Hr. Sec. School, Rajouri organized a three day workshop-cum training camp entitled “Popularisation of Science Activities under S.T PLAN (Project) Govt. of India” for the teachers and students of Rajouri district, J&K. The workshop was inaugurated today by Sh. Mohd. Ashraf Rather, Chief Education Officer Rajouri in presence of Sh. Abdul Rauf Dar Principal GGHSS Rajouri.

After the formal welcome address by Mr. Umesh Kumar, Local Coordinator of the program for Rajouri District, Dr. Ashaq Hussain Master resource Person of the workshop in his introductory address said that the Workshop is the joint venture of Vigyan Prasar, Deptt. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, Noida and National Council for Urban and Rural Development Society (NCURDS), Jammu, and is targeted to take science beyond classroom with a soul purpose to foster scientific temperament among the teachers stressing on “Learning by Doing” in discharging effective teaching learning process that ultimately will benefits student communities.

Mohd. Ashraf Rather CEO Rajouri in his Inaugural address lauded the efforts of NCURDS, Jammu for organizing such type of innovative programmes in the interest of teachers and students of this District. He further added that such programs are the need of the hour in the present era of science and technology. Sh. Abdul Rauf Dar Principal GGHSS Rajouri in his address stressed the teachers as well as students to take keen interest in understanding various concepts of science during the workshop. He expressed his joy for hosting such training workshops in his institution and extended all type of help for making the workshop a grand success.

The Resource persons that will be interacting in the three day workshop with the participants include Dr. Ashiq Hussain, Principal, Govt. Degree College, Chatroo, Kishtwar, Sh. Kuldeep Gupta, Master GGHS Simbal Camp, Jammu and Sh. Shamaile Nabi, Assistant Professor Galgotia College Greater Noida Delhi. The resource persons during the workshop will be performing several experiments related to the nature study.

The first day of the programme was focused on plants where different activities under the guidance of Dr. Ashaq Hussain and Sh. Shamaile Nabi, the main resource persons of the program, carried out experiments related to the seed germination. The experiments regarding effects of light, temperature, water, soil, etc on seed germination were set up on the very first day of the program. The experiments for phototropism, geotropism in plants, the equipments for Nature walk like pooter, Butterfly net, under water viewer etc were also demonstrated towards the end of the first day of the workshop by Mr. Kuldeep Gupta another resource person of the program.
