SOPORE AUGUST 11:—A ten days High-End Workshop on “Development of Novel Bio-formulations for Use in Sustainable Agro-ecosystems” concludes today at Faculty of Agriculture Wadura, SKUAST-Kashmir with a brief valedictory function. The workshop was organized by Division of Basic Science & Humanities and was sponsored by GoI’s SERB-DST under its Accelerate Vigyan (AV) Scheme. The objective of this workshop was to update participants about latest advances in the development of various effective bio-formulations for use in safe agricultural practices. The workshop was held from August 01 to August 10, 2022, wherein more than 25 postgraduate scholars of SKUAST-Kashmir actively participated and deliberated on the theme with the experts. A compendium of the lectures delivered during the workshop was also released on the occasion. Vice Chairperson, J&K Khadi & Village Industries Board, Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat was chief guest on the occasion of the valedictory function and Dean Students Welfare SKUAST-K, Prof. M. A.A. Siddique was guest of honour.
Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat expressed her gratitude on being part of the valedictory function of workshop and stressed that all the trainings were of utmost importance and are the need of the hour for boosting the moral of youth and getting the training for generating the income and livelihood for unemployed rural youth. She also stressed on different schemes and policies offering subsidies given to the unemployed youth and advised trainees to take advantage of the schemes. She also emphasized on participants to establish their own plant clinics to diagnose nutrient deficiency, diseases & pests in any crop and render accurate knowledge to the farming community. Prof. M. A.A. Siddique in his address emphasized that increasing attention should be given to the development of innovative formulations to substitute the use of synthetic chemicals to improve agricultural production and resource use efficiency. Dean Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Raihana H. Kanth, deliberated on the need and importance of bioformulations keeping in view the environmental concerns. Earlier, Dr. Sajad Ahmad gave a brief overview of the workshop and congratulated Dr. Asif Malik, Course Director, for the successful completion of workshop. The participants of workshop were presented with certificates and mementos for their active participation during last 10 days at Wadura campus of SKUAST-K following a brief post feedback session. In addition to participants, the valedictory session was attended by Heads of Divisions & faculty members of FoA.The proceedings of the inaugural function were presented by Mr. Raqim Firdous. The valedictory function ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Khalid Hussain.
