Waste Garbage collection through SMC in whole Srinagar city & it’s extended areas is not working Properly: Altaf Dar

SRINAGAR,APRIL 12: Prominent Socio Activist/Trade Union Leader Mohammad Altaf Dar (Rajbagh)in a statement issued said Srinagar Municipal Corporation is collecting garbage tax from citizens, but has failed to put a proper waste collection mechanism in place.The system used for waste/ rubbish/garbage collection in our Srinagar city included Our local area is not working properly. This is causing problems for everyone.

Dar said I am writing to express a grave situation that the community of “Srinagar city included Whole Rajbagh ward i.e areas Foot bridge Rajbagh Kanilpora, Iqbal Colony Armwari, Khujbagh area,Kursu Bund,Kursu Rajbagh Extension,” facing due to the faulty and inadequate rubbish management system,short of waste and garbage vehicle collection especially for the last three to four weeks.Moreover, for the last couple of weeks, garbage collector’s lorries/vehicles have not been picking up the trash in time,in inner lanes,by lanes and deposit of all waste has started to scatter around the residents or on the streets of the srinagar City & it’s extended areas.
Since the garbage collection vehicle are overflowing with litter, it attracts some street dogs who rampage the rubish every night through out srinagar city.It has also become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, houseflies and other insects which can lead to the spread of infectious diseases. Moreover, the bad odour from garbage has started reaching our house which hampers our peaceful and healthy living.
Prominent Socio Activist/Trade Union Leader Mohammad Altaf Dar would like to suggest that the concerned officials at Srinagar Municipal Corporation look into the matter urgently and make sure the garbage lorries come to our community every other day. Besides, for a long-term solution, more waste,garbage collection vehicles should be erected soon as possible and the garbage should definitely be picked up in a timely manner.
Mohammad Altaf Dar hope Mayor, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation & Concerned officials will take immediate measures to solve the problems and consider my suggestions.
