DDC Rajouri reviews performance of PWD(R&B), stressed for timely completion

RAJOURI DECEMBER 27:
— Vikas Kundal, District Developmbent Commissioner (DDC) asked the Executive Engineer PWD(R&B) to formulate within two days the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for 17 smart schools proposed under the Tribal Plan.
While reviewing the performance of PWD(R&B) he took a comprehensive review of physical and financial progress on several developmental projects being executed in the district, besides discussing bottlenecks impeding the works.
Pertinently, the construction work on many under construction important projects is going on at a snail’s pace.
Taking stock of the progress on Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 139 crore, the Executive Engineer, PWD informed DDC that the work on the Administrative and Academic block is complete in all respects, while the work on the hostel block is in the finishing stage and will be completed by the end of December 2021.
In the month of June, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, the then DDC had visited the GMC and had expressed dismay over the sluggish work performance of the Executing Agency on Administrative and Academic block. He set a one-month deadline for completing the work on both blocks.
He had warned the contractor for blacklisting if the said work is not completed within set deadlines.
DDC Vikas Kundal directed the PWD(R&B) officers for early completion of vital Khawas-Koteranka road and for that take up the matter with higher authorities.
Discussing the progress on the BGSBU road, the DDC asked the concerned officer to resolve the issue impeding the execution of work at the earliest.
In the month of December 2019, the then Commissioner Secretary to Government, PWD had laid the foundation stone of 7 Km double lane road from Rajouri to Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) but the work on this major project is also going on at a snail’s pace.
The DDC asked the concerned to expedite the progress on Health projects being executed under the District & State Capex and ensure that all the works are completed within the stipulated period.
The DDC also reviewed the progress of the works being executed under NABARD and PRI Grants and issued instructions for the timely completion of the projects to benefit the general public.
