RAJOURI JAN, 05:-Senior BJP leader and former MLC Vibodh Gupta on Sunday felicitated the newly appointed conveners of various Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cells in Rajouri at a function held at the Dak Bungalow.
Congratulating the new office-bearers, Gupta expressed confidence that they would work with dedication to strengthen the party’s organisational framework and enhance public outreach at the grassroots level.
Addressing mediapersons after the event, Gupta elaborated on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the comprehensive development of Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the Union Territory has witnessed unprecedented progress in infrastructure, rural development and connectivity in recent years.
Referring to recent political developments, Gupta cited remarks made by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, in which he acknowledged the Central Government’s role in providing substantial financial assistance for development in the Union Territory. Gupta said such statements demonstrate that leaders across political lines have recognised the commitment and sincerity of the Modi-led government towards J&K’s development.
He further stated that the Centre has extended significant financial support for rebuilding and upgrading public infrastructure, particularly in areas affected by natural calamities. Gupta mentioned that the recently approved Special Central Assistance of ₹1,430 crore reflects the Centre’s responsiveness to the challenges faced by the Union Territory and its commitment to restoring essential services and public assets in a time-bound manner.
Highlighting major infrastructure initiatives, Gupta said that road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), along with National Highway expansions, including strategic tunnels and bridges, have greatly improved connectivity to remote areas and boosted economic activity.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gupta added, Jammu and Kashmir has moved decisively towards peace, stability and development, and the BJP remains committed to ensuring that the benefits of growth reach every section of society.
Meanwhile, Gupta also levelled allegations against Rajouri MLA Iftkhar Ahmed, claiming that a Junior Engineer of the Public Works Department, Rajouri, was transferred from Rajouri to Kalakote allegedly on communal grounds. He termed such actions unacceptable and said that communal politics would not be tolerated in the future.
