Coronavirus vaccinations have come to halt almost in all the health blocks, barring few health centers, in the Rajouri district because the district reportedly has not received vaccines supply during this week.
Even all the vaccination centers were found locked in Rajouri town. However, about 600 persons were provided 1st & 2nd doses at few health centers in rural areas where people don’t come in large numbers for the jab.
“As I had received the message for my second dose due on July 5, I went to a vaccination center established in the under-construction Nursing College building in Gujjar Mandi area of Rajouri town, but at about 2.30 pm it was locked” said Sham Lal.
Similarly, many beneficiaries from across the district have also complained about the closing of vaccination centers for the last 2-3 days.
No vaccines are available in the district today because the supplies were not made from Jammu during this week, official sources say.
No vaccination session could be held in almost all the six health blocks, barring few health centers where about 1700 people were vaccinated yesterday & today with available doses, during the last 3 days.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr.Shamim un Nisa admitted that due to shortage of vaccine, vaccination drive has been hampered in the district during the last few days.
“We have received about 5000 doses of Covishield vaccine today and from Monday vaccination will be resumed in all the health blocks. We hope that in the future we will not face the shortage of vaccines” said CMO.
Rajouri district has achieved 101% target for health care workers,98% for front line workers & 105% for persons above 45 years age group.
There are 92 positive cases still in the district out of which 7 are under treatment in GMC Rajouri and 15 in Army hospital.
