SRINAGAR JULY 03:-Congress leader and District President Pulwama, Umer Jaan, has made a strong appeal to all elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) across Jammu and Kashmir to uphold and respect the dignity of the voters who have placed their trust in democracy.
In his statement, Umer Jaan emphasized that voters are not just a number or a vote bank, but the real stakeholders of the democratic system. He said, “Every MLA, irrespective of party lines, must remember that their position is a result of the faith and aspirations of the people. Ignoring or undermining that faith is a betrayal of democracy itself.”
He further added that the public’s trust must not be misused for personal or party gains, and called upon legislators to regularly engage with their constituents, listen to their concerns, and maintain transparency and accountability in public service.
Umer Jaan stressed that respecting voters means delivering on promises, staying connected at the grassroots level, and protecting the democratic values that form the foundation of the Constitution.
He concluded by saying, “Politics should not be about power—it should be about people. And people deserve respect, not just during elections, but every single day thereafter.”
