KUPWARA JULY 05:—Two days training and Quality Seed Distribution programme was organised by National Seed Project, SKUAST Kashmir, Shalimar in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kupwara and Department of Agriculture, Tangdhar/Teetwal. On the occasion quality seed of SKUAST K released varieties of wheat and rajmash was distributed among the Tribal Farmers under the programme “Tribal Sub Plan of ICAR-National Seed Project”. During deliberations of the training programme, Prof Dil M. Makhdoomi, Director Extension, SKUAST Kashmir gave details about organising such programmes on farmers field wherein on spot feed back received from the farmers can help Agricultural University to form an effective strategy for execution of better programmes for the tribal farmers. Prof Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi impressed upon Tribal farmers to take advantage of such schemes and remain in touch with various scientists posted at KVKs and other Research Stations of the University for timely redressed of their farm related problems. He gave on-spot directions to form a whatsapp group of all the tribal farming community of Tangdhar and Teetwal so that effective production technology of various crops is disseminated to the far flung areas through KVKs. On the occasion, Prof. M. Ashraf Bhat, Nodal Officers (Seeds) threw light on activities of the “Tribal Sub Plan Scheme of ICAR” for upliftment of Socio-economic concerns of Tribal Farmers. He laid stress on using the SKUAST K released climate resilient varieties for ameliorating crop production and appealed Tribal farmers to remain updated with latest technologies developed by SKUAST K. The programme was also attended by Dr Kaiser M Malik, PC, KVK, Kupwara, Dr Gowhar Ali, Dr Aflaq H Wani,Dr Firdous Raina Sr Scientists KVK Kupwara officers of Dept of Agriculture, Tangdhar/Teetwal and Block Development Councillors. A Tribal Kisan Road March was also organised on the occasion.
