Two bootlegger nabbed in Rajouri, smuggled liquor seized

Rajouri,June 24:- The Jammu and Kashmir police in Rajouri on Wednesday foiled a liquor smuggling bid and arrested two bootlegger who were smuggling liquor towards Doongi area.

Police said that a team headed by Station House Officer Rajouri Sameer Jillani under the supervision of Deputy SP Headquarter Surinder Khadyal was on routine naka checking at Salani bridge when a car
JK11B 6575 on way from Rajouri toward Kallar was signalled to stop but driver parked the vehicle at some distance and he alongwith co-driver tried to escape from the spot.

However, alert cops on duty chased the duo and managed to nab them and vehicle was put to frisking with 37 bottles of liquor with 180 ml each and 14 bottles of liquor with one litre capacity were recovered.

The liquor being smuggled was seized on the spot with two accused namely Sanjay Kumar son of Babu Ram resident of Mehari Manyalan village of Rajouri and Mohammad Razaq son of Mohammad Hussain resident of Dhara Sanwla village were arrested.

A case in FIR No 210/2020 U/S 48(a) Excise Act have been registered in police station Rajouri.
