Poonch March 03:–Foiling a bid of illicit liquor smuggling, police in Mendhar sub division of Poonch district arrested two bootlegers recovering one hundred and thirty bottles of liquor from their possession.
Accused have been identified as Mahmood Ahmed son of Mohammad Aslam resident of Behra Mendhar and Shah Nawaz son of Mohammad Taj resident of Sangla Mendhar.
Police said that a team headed by PSI Suman Sharma under the supervision of SHO Mendhar Manzoor Kohli laid a naka and intercepted a car JK12 5338 in Balakote road.
During frisking, one hundred and thirty bottles of illicit liquor were recovered and seized from the vehicle and both the person have been arrested.
Police said that a case in FIR 40/2022 under section 48 Excise act has been registered in Mendhar police station and further investigation is going on.
In Mendhar sub division of Poonch district, Police teams headed by SDPO Sheezan Bhat (JKPS) under the supervision of SSP Poonch Sh.Rohit Baskotra (JKPS) are taking every possible measure to take legal action against those involved in unlawful acts and people of Poonch district are requested to come forward and report illegal sale of narcotics substances for strict action against the persons involved.
