RAJOURI, MAY 22 :–Under Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiyan, J&K police have initiated a crusade against curbing the menace of narcotics peddling, abuse of drugs and against drug peddlers.
On Monday under the overall supervision of DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range & SSP Rajouri District Rajouri police arrested three notorious criminals and drug smugglers from Thananamdi and Kalakote tehsils & recovered 6.50 grams of heroin-like substance from their possession.
A team of Thanamandi police station; under the supervision of SDPO, Thanamandi, Dr. Imtiaz Hussain and headed by SHO, inspector Hilal Azhar, during frisking intercepted a Wegaon-R bearing registration No. DL2CP-6084.
On frisking of the driver and his colleague, the police team recovered 3.50 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) from their possession.
Both were arrested on the spot and the vehicle was also seized. The accused identified as Javed Iqbal Tass s/o Mohd Ashraf r/o village Bhanghai & Tahir Hussain Shah s/o Faqir Hussain r/o village Khablan (both in Thanamandi tehsi) and have been booked in case FIR 58/2023 under section 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act.
The police said Tahir Hussain is also wanted in another FIR while Javis Iqbal Tass is also a drug smuggler and also has created different fake accounts on the name of girls & used them to send girl’s photos to his male friends.
He used to blackmail friends/people by sending them nude photos & involving them in chats.
“Both are notorious drug smugglers. It is an achievement for the police in its efforts to curb the menace of drugs/narcotics peddling in the district” said SSP, Amritpal Singh.
Inhabitants of Thanamandi have appreciated the efforts of SHO, Hilal Azhar, who have rounded up several notorious criminals involved in different illegal activities within a short period after joining at Thanamandi.
Meanwhile, a police team from Kalakote police station headed by SHO, during routine checking frisking at a ‘naka’ intercepted a person and recovered 3 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.
A drug peddler identified as Israr Talib s/o Talib Hussain resident of Chaprian (ward No.6) Rajouri town, has been arrested and booked under relevant sections of law at Kalakote police station.
Police said after the registration of the case investigation is going on to unearth the forward and backward linkages of the arrested person.
SSP Rajouri Amritpal Singh (IPS) termed this as a success for police in its efforts to curb the menace of drugs and narcotics peddling.
