Social Welfare Department organises awareness Camp on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in Bhaderwah

BHADERWAH JUNE 22 :–The Social welfare DepartmentDistrict Doda conducted an awareness camp on “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan for students in the premises of Govt Hr Sec School boys Bhaderwah here today .

The camp was conducted under the guidance of the District Social Welfare Officer, Tariq Qazi whereas Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Bhaderwah Subash Kotwal , Principal Govt Hr Sec School boys Bhaderwah Anees Ahmed , Advocate Mohd Majid Malik , Educationist Arif Rana , Nasser Ahmed , Kapoor , Muzamil Yezdani President UEWT Bhaderwah and other were also present on the occasion .

The Social welfare Officer Bhaderwah Subash Kotwal said that the Government of India Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has announced an initiative “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan under thIS initiative, a range of interactive and educational activities have been planned as part of a month-long Programme which aims to empower the students and society by creating awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among tribal communities.

During the awareness programme, resource person Adv Mohd Majid Malik highlighted the causes, consequences, and treatment options for substance abuse. He also emphasized the role of rehabilitation centers in providing various therapeutic interventions for those struggling with addiction. He also informed that the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, commonly referred to as the NDPS Act, is an Act of the Parliament of India that prohibits a person from the production/manufacturing/cultivation, possession, sale, purchasing, transport, storage, and/or consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance Adv Mohd Majid Malik saidSection 37 of the NDPS Act deal with the aspect of offences to be cognizable and non-bailable. This section states every offence punishable under the NDPS Act shall be cognizable, and no person accused of an offence punishable for [offences under section 19 or section 24 or section 27-A and also offences involving commercial quantity] shall be released on bail or on his own bond, unless the certain conditions are met. ,He also informed that the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is an important campaign that aims to address the issue of substance abuse and create a drug-free India. It is our responsibility to educate the youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse and provide them with access to the necessary resources to combat this issue.

” The awareness camp received a positive response from the students, NSS , NCC cadets and staff of the school who appreciated the efforts made by the Social Welfare Department in creating awareness about the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan and resource person also created awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse among students and youth .
