SRINAGAR FEB 12:– Shahar-e- Khass Traders and Chambers Srinagar Hold An Emergency Meet today, which took place at the head office of Shahar-e- Khass Traders and Chambers, specifically focusing on the concerning behavior exhibited by JK Bank in recent times. This gathering was prompted by the numerous complaints have received from traders regarding the bank’s practices, particularly concerning the imposition of maintenance charges on dormant accounts.
Many traders and business owners have voiced their frustration because JK Bank has been forcefully demanding these charges for accounts that have remained inactive for extended periods, some for as long as five to six months. According to standard banking procedures, it is clear that if any account is left unused for such a duration, it should automatically be closed. However, in a rather perplexing turn of events, the bank has opted not to close these dormant accounts but instead has begun charging customers for maintenance, despite their accounts lacking any transactional activity.
This situation is indeed regrettable and raises significant concerns about JK Bank’s customer service approach and overall accountability. Business owners, especially traders, find themselves in a precarious position. Many are already struggling due to their businesses not performing well, and it is unreasonable for them to bear additional financial burdens such as maintenance charges when their accounts remain inactive. This leads to the pressing question: when a trader’s business is faltering, where exactly are they supposed to procure the funds to cover these unexpected charges?
Furthermore, it is necessary to bring to the bank’s attention another pressing issue. During critical business hours, when the bank’s systems undergo necessary upgrades, many businesses suffer tremendous losses. It raises a valid concern: will JK Bank take responsibility for any penalties incurred during these operational downtimes? Traders urge the Chairman and Managing Director of JK Bank to consider this situation seriously and provide guidance on how they intend to rectify these ongoing issues.
Traders emphasize the importance of resolving this matter promptly and request that JK Bank investigate these complaints thoroughly. If left unaddressed, we fear that this grievance may escalate further and necessitate intervention from higher authorities or regulatory bodies. We sincerely hope that JK Bank will reflect on these issues and work towards a more equitable treatment of their customers Chief Spokesperson of Shahar-e- Khas Traders said and added..
