SFs apprehend 3-key conduits involved in cross border Narco-Terror. Arrest followed after recovery of 22 kg heroin from 2 Punjab smugglers at Sunderbani.

RAJOURI, JUNE 09:-‘During the ongoing investigation into the arrest of two inter-state drug peddlers’ from Punjab along with 22 kgs of heroin-like substance by Sunderbani police in Rajouri district, the Army along with district Poonch and Sunderbani police have arrested three main conduits/operative in Poonch district on Friday.
Sources said the joint raids were conducted on Thursday evening and the accused apprehended have been identified as Shakar Din son of Noor Din of village Degwar Terwan, Mohd Rashid son of Badar Din, and Mohd Shafir son of Mohd Hussain, both residents of the Kalas village in Baglyar general area.
All three accused are hard-core Over Ground Workers and also involved in cross border Narco-terror module.
More recoveries of drugs, arms, explosives, ammunition, etc can’t be ruled out in the next few days on the disclosure of arrested accused.
The Security Forces have recovered two hand grenades from their possession and extensive joint search operations are currently in progress.
“The apprehension of these three individuals is a major blow to the complex cross-border Narco-terror nexus being operated from PoJK,” said SFs.
“In the follow-up operations to the Sunderbani Narcotics recovery case, multiple joint operations have been conducted by Indian Army, JKP Poonch & JKP Sunderbani in Poonch District, in the last 72 hours three main conduits/operatives of the cross-border Narco-terror module have been apprehended,” said PRO Defence, Lt Col Devender Anand.
It is pertinent to mention here that the investigation was started after on June 1, Sunderbani police in Rajouri district during checking of vehicles at a police ‘Naka’ intercepted a Tavera car bearing registration No.JK01AB-5470 on its way to Jammu from Poonch side and recovered 22 kg heroin from two inter-state drug peddlers both residents of Punjab.
Both the persons, namely Onkar Singh s/o Karam Singh resident of village Talmandi Barth & Shamsher Singh son of Nirmal Singh resident of Village Barthmal Tehsil both in Gurdaspur district of Punjab, were arrested and booked under section 8/21/22/25/27A/29/60 NDPS Act
(FIR No.42/2023) at Sunderbani police station.
SSP, Amritpal Singh said: “Further investigation into the matter is going on and all the forward and backward linkages are being traced. More arrests during the course of the investigation, in this case, can’t be ruled out,”
When asked about Narco-terrorism in this matter SSP said: “It is a matter of investigation. This is a major success for Rajouri police on the anti-narcotics front & the Narco-terror aspect of this recovery is also being probed”.
The arrest of these two peddlers has been made by a police team headed by SHO Sunderbani, Inspector Deepak Pathania under the supervision of SDPO Nowshera, Tusif Ahmed, and Additional SP Nowshera, Mohd Rafi Giri.
