JAMMU NOV 12:-The representatives of the several sociopolitical organizations called for an early restoration of the special status to the Jammu and Kashmir along with all constitutional guarantees taken away on 5 August 2019 against the will of the people of the state.
The meeting organized by the United Peace Alliance also welcomed the resolution passed by the Jammu Kashmir assembly on November 6 disapproving the unilateral decisions made by union govt on 5 August 2019, infringing upon the democratic and constitutional rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
They also urged the government of India to respect the sentiments of the people of the state who have overwhelmingly voted for the restoration of their special status along with the democratic rights. The meeting was attended by a large number of sociopolitical activists who emphasized upon securing their land, jobs, resources, and culture of the people with the special safeguards provided by the law.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Mir Shahid Saleem, Safeer Chowdhary, Dr. Rajinder Thapa, Tajinder Singh Puppy, Syed Muntazir, Hari Singh CPM, Kuldeep Singh, Subash Mehta, CPI ML, Harsis Singh Kranti, Haji Sayeed, Haji Azam Meelu, Sheik Zahoor Muslim Front, RK Kalsotra’ Ramesh Chander and Many others present in the Programme
