Jammu :–Search Committee Constituted for the appointment of Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri has come under sharp criticism for violating UGC norms and calling inelligible candidates for the Interaction. One such candidate Mrs Parveena Pandith, Presently Controller of Examination CUK was called for interview. She has never served any university untill couple of years back when she was appointed in Central University of Kashmir after her retirement from College. She served in different Govt. Colleges and retired as Principal of a B.ed. College. As per UGC norms and as per advertisement ten years of experience as professor is required to apply for the position of Vice Chancellor. She never served as Professor in any University. Based on this fact she was not even eligible to apply for the position of Vice Chancellor but to a big surprise to all Search Committee called her for interview. Further, it is pertinent to mention that one of the members of the Search Committee is her close relative. Which amounts an OPEN and SHUT case of CONFLICT OF INTEREST. Further, an other candidate:

Mohd Asger Gazi former Dean SOET, BGSBU who is currently under suspension by the University vide order no. BGSBU/REG/20/ 4033 dated 18/07/2020 and also charge sheeted because with the charges of huge financial corruption is surprisingly called for interaction by the Search Committee headed by Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University for appointment of Vice Chancellor of BGSBU, Rajouri.
The news of his suspension and rampant corruption indulged in by him was recently the headlines of almost all the news papers of the JK UT and the country.

There were also the headlines of the news papers that his appointment as Reader and Professor in the University during the period of the previous regime was totally illegal since in the case of Readership, he was appointed permanently without any selection Committee flouting the UGC norms and he did not fulfill even the minimum requirement of Professorship and selection Committee had no subject expert and one expert was even Reader in the selection Committee which appointed him Professor during the period of the first Vice Chancellor of the University. These appointment orders of Mohd Asger Gazi which were widely reported in the media are currently under scanner.

Inviting a person with such tainted record in which he has done huge corruption and was suspended and charge sheeted,

For interction with the Search Committee for appointment of Vice Chancellor of the University RAISED many questions on the integrity and validity of the entire selection process of the Vice Chancellor of BGSBU. Interestingly, the Chairman of the Search Committee, Prof. Talat Ahmad is the member of Executive Council of BGSBU which has unanimously endorsed the suspension of Mr. Mohd. Asger. Against all this backdrop, some sort of setting and foul play is suspected in the Selection Process of the Vice Chancellor.
Sources also reveal that many heavy weight candidates with impeccable academic and administrative experience and with sizeable contribution in academics and administration were ignored and not invited for interaction with the search Committee in comparison to those who have only ordinary achievements to their credit but were apparently close to some powerful members of the Search Committee raising serious concerns about the credibility of the Search Committee and authenticity of whole process. Lg Manoj Sinha , LG Jammu and Kashmir who is also the Chancellor of BGSBU must take serious note of this issue and an impartial enquiry be constituted aganist the Search Committee for partial approach and violating set norms of UGC.
