RAJOURI, AUGUST 23:–Nowshera Health Block of Rajouri district under the supervision of BMO, Dr. Iqbal Malik has initiated a unique School Health Program ensuring that students receive essential/required health services directly in their classrooms.
Block Medical Officer (BMO), Dr. Iqbal Malik informed that as a part of the ongoing campaign ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ and in conjunction with the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ we have designated every Wednesday as ‘School Health Day’.
“This innovative initiative aims to address the health needs of students residing in remote and challenging regions,” said Dr. Iqbal Malik.
The weekly School Camps are being organized under the esteemed guidance of Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Rajiv Sharma; Additional DC Nowshera, Kartar Singh; and CMO Rajouri, Dr. Rajinder Kumar.

The team consisted of dedicated medical professionals, including Dr. Akram, Dr. Gafoor, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Dr. Sumit, & Dr. Mohit; TB Supervisor, Ravi Kant; Health Educators, Saleem & Kunal, laborator technician, Ravi; dental technician, Yogesh; FMPHW, Saryu; JHI, Kuldeep; pharmacist, Digpal, and other invaluable staff members along with ASHA workers.
Over the past several months, the health team has been diligently working in the field, making a significant impact.
The team offered counselling services to adolescent boys and girls and distributed essential iron and calcium tablets.
A crucial aspect of student health, de-worming, was carried out using Albendazole. The camp also provided various lab services, including blood grouping and HB testing. Furthermore, students benefited from dental, ENT, and eye check-ups, along with general medical examinations and treatment.
The health camp also emphasized critical health topics such as HIV-AIDS awareness, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the importance of using iodized salt, mental health, and the Anaemia Mukt Bharat initiative.
Demonstrations on proper hand washing techniques and the significance of hygiene for overall well-being were also conducted.
Health experts addressed menstrual hygiene concerns and distributed menstrual napkins, contributing to a more informed and healthy student body.
As part of their holistic approach, students were screened for health issues, and immediate treatment was administered for minor ailments.
Free medicines, including Ayurvedic tonics and immunity boosters, were provided to the students.
This unique School Health Program of Nowshera Health Block receives appreciation from the general public, parents of the students & school staff for bringing vital services directly to the classrooms of the students.
