MENDHAR FEBRUARY 02:-The Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 under the Aspirational Block Programme was formally launched today in Aspirational Block Mankote, marking a significant step towards holistic, inclusive and accelerated development in this border and backward region. The campaign aims to bridge developmental gaps, strengthen service delivery and ensure saturation of key indicators across vital sectors.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mendhar, Imran Rashid JKAS, stated that Sampoornata Abhiyan–II has been initiated as part of a continued effort to uplift aspirational blocks by identifying deficiencies and addressing long-standing gaps. He informed that the campaign has been formally inaugurated today and will continue in the coming days with active participation from multiple departments.

He said that stalls set up by various departments at the venue served as an effective platform to educate the public about government schemes, welfare initiatives and services available to them. Officials from all concerned departments participated and displayed their work, ensuring that people received accurate information directly from the administration.

Highlighting the vision behind the Aspirational Block Programme, the SDM said that the initiative has been introduced nationwide to provide special focus to blocks that have lagged behind in development, with the objective of bringing them at par with other developed regions of the country through targeted interventions and continuous monitoring.

He expressed satisfaction over the progress achieved by Mankote Block, stating that over the past two years, the block has shown remarkable improvement and is currently ranked ninth at the national level among Aspirational Blocks. He attributed this achievement to the collective efforts of the local administration working under the guidance of the Hon’ble District Development Commissioner, along with sincere contributions from all departments.

The SDM added that significant progress has been recorded across sectors such as health, agriculture, education, ICDS and other departments including the DDC framework. He said the administration remains focused on identifying remaining gaps and strengthening weak areas to ensure sustainable and comprehensive development.

Emphasizing the importance of media, he appealed to journalists to spread awareness about Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 so that public participation increases and the objectives of the campaign are achieved effectively.

Meanwhile, DDC Member Ch. Imran Zaffar expressed happiness and pride over the performance of Mankote Block, stating that securing the ninth position at the national level and first position in Jammu and Kashmir among Aspirational Blocks is a major achievement for the region.

He said that although much work still remains, visible changes have taken place on the ground. He recalled that earlier, awareness programmes about government schemes were rarely organised, leaving people uninformed and unable to fully benefit from welfare initiatives.

He noted that the situation has improved significantly, with dozens of awareness programmes now being conducted every year to inform people about various government schemes so that they can avail themselves of these benefits. He appealed to citizens to actively participate in such programmes.

The DDC Member congratulated the District Administration and Mankote Block Administration for their efforts and thanked the media for consistently highlighting the issues and challenges of Mankote Block, a sensitive border area, before the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the entire nation.

On the health front, Dr. Rabnawaz Khan informed that Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0 has been launched in Aspirational Block Mankote and will continue from 28 January to 14 April. He said the campaign focuses on saturating six key health indicators including NCD screening, diabetes screening, hypertension screening, institutional deliveries and ANC check-ups.

He further stated that under the National Quality Assurance Standards initiative, all eleven health institutions in the block will be prepared for certification in strict adherence to Indian Public Health Standards, with the objective of improving the quality of healthcare services and patient care.

Dr. Rabnawaz Khan said that the Aspirational Block initiative is particularly beneficial for Mankote as it is a backward and border area with remote habitations. Through Sampoornata Abhiyan 2.0, government services are being delivered directly to the doorstep of the people. He described the initiative by NITI Aayog and the Government of India as positive and encouraging.

The launch event witnessed active participation from officials of various departments, health professionals, local representatives and members of the media, reflecting a collective commitment towards strengthening governance and achieving holistic development in Aspirational Block Mankote.
