SRINAGAR DEC 03:- In a powerful statement today, Sabiya Bano , the State Secretary of the RLJP JKUT Women’s Wing and Incharge North Zone women’s wing, called for transformative change for individuals with disabilities within the region. Emphasizing the pressing need for equity and representation, Bano outlined vital initiatives aimed at improving the socioeconomic conditions of this marginalized community.
Highlighting the importance of employment as a gateway to independence, Bano demanded targeted recruitment drives aimed specifically at hiring individuals with disabilities. “It is paramount that we implement a comprehensive recruitment strategy tailored to the unique skills and talents of individuals with disabilities. Government jobs should reflect our society’s diversity,” she declared passionately.
Moreover, Bano advocated for a critical revision of the reservation system in government employment, ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive equitable representation across all levels of government. “Equal opportunities are not just about fairness; they are essential for building a more inclusive society,” she stated.
In addition to employment prospects, Bano pushed for significant enhancements to existing support mechanisms designed for individuals with disabilities. Notably, she asserted the necessity to quintuple monthly pensions, making provisions that ensure dignified living conditions for those affected.
She also proposed the initiation of subsidized loan programs aimed specifically at entrepreneurs with disabilities, facilitating access to financial resources that empower self-employment opportunities. “Empowerment is not just political; it is economic. By investing in the entrepreneurial spirit of individuals with disabilities, we can unlock a wealth of talent that has long been undervalued,” Bano articulated.
Finally, Bano called for a transformative expansion in access to education for individuals with disabilities, stressing the crucial role education plays in fostering independence and economic self-sufficiency.
“With these measures in place, we can create a more just society—one where every individual, regardless of ability, can lead a full and productive life,” concluded Bano.
The RLJP JKUT Women’s Wing will be pursuing these demands vigorously in coming weeks and invites community members, advocacy groups, and stakeholders to join they efforts toward an inclusive future.
