RAJOURI MARCH 22:-‘Atleast Rs 100 lac minor minerals have been looted per day in Rajouri***
Illegal mining is going on in Rajouri unabated under the nose of District Administration and Mining Department. The height of the lawlessness can easily be gauged from the fact that while the minor mineral block holders are sitting ideal, but the mining mafia is busy in illegally excavating minerals/RBM from the rivers of Rajouri that too without Evan paying a single penny as Royalty what to talk about the cost, besides also by causing huge loss to the flora and fauna of the Rivers. GNS has formed a team to check the quantum of this menace, in which it is found that the mining mafia is looting atleast 25 lac per day Royalty only ( i.e. costing more than Rs 100 lac of Minor Minerals) in nexus with Mining Department, Legal Block Holders and also some junior rank police officials in the Rajouri District. The modus operandi adopted by these criminals is to illegally excavate minor minerals from the un-auctioned area so as to avoid Royalty. Even in some area near Kallar and Darhali points have been made to stock this illegally got minor mineral at Night, for selling them in broad day light. Speaking to the GNS, a Sarpanch on the assurance of anonymity told that as per the settled law by Supreme Court of India, these matter shall be dealt as theft cases, but the concerned police officer and also mining department are not acting as per the settled law and instead use the provision 4/21 of MMRD act so as to avoid punishment to culprits under section IPC 379 and 431 of CRPC.
Lastly the District Development Commissioner is requested to call the whole record from the mining department and also police department to check the veracity of the contents of this news. And if found correct and true then to call explanation from the concerned officials @ why they have not dealt these criminals as per the settled law of land, and rather are acting in a way unknown to law, just to boost this menace for surely extraneous consideration.
